Crochet Scrappy Slippers

Hook up my Scrappy Slippers in just an hour or two and keep your feet warm and cozy!

I pretty much live in slippers while I'm inside during the colder months.  I have made myself many pairs of slippers over the years from other patterns that had complicated stitch work.  While they looked nice when I was finished hooking them up, they never really lasted too long before getting holes in the bottoms.  Then I would feel sad because I spent so much time making them look pretty, only to have them get holes in the bottoms.  They were pretty, but not very practical.

My Scrappy Slippers are practical and they look good.  They are practical because:

  • they are basic slippers that can be hooked up in a couple of hours
  • they are made using leftover yarn
  • they use 3 strands of yarn crocheted together, making them stronger and warmer

As they use 3 strands leftover yarn, you could find that your slippers are mismatched a bit with colour, so they may not look like a "perfect" pair.  If you like the look of your slippers looking more like a pair, make both slippers at the same time like I did.  Split your leftover yarn you want to use for your slippers into 2.  Do one row of one slipper, and then do the same row on the other slipper.  When you run out of yarn, simply attach another (or the same) colour and keep going.  I used 3 different colours for my strands, but you could choose to use 3 the same, or 2 the same with one different.  That's part of the charm of this pattern:  you are still the artist and can decide what colours or how many different colours you want to use!

Gauge: 10 stitches x 4 rows = 4 inches

Hook: 8 mm/L

Pattern is written for women sizes 8-10

**NOTE:   If you need a different size, follow this formula to make the necessary changes to make these slippers in any size  (the formula link will bring you to my Ravelry page...if you click on free ravelry download, you will have the option of the slipper pattern or the formula for changing the size)**

Try contacting Donna Bondy, she is the designer and may be better suited to help her. Her info is on the Ravelry page from where you got the pattern for these,

      Hi Betty,
Sorry about that! I have fixed the link. Now when you click on it, you will be brought to my Ravelry page for Scrappy Slippers. If you click on the "free download" you have the option of either the pattern or the formula for changing sizes.
      Thanks for letting me know!

Just finished making Donna Bond's scrappy slippers. With a few adjustment for size, super easy and they are thick and cushiony. I am going to try and felt my to see how the turn out. Thanks
